Live Streaming Services

Episodic’s Live Streaming Services allow you to acquire a live signal and deliver a high quality stream to a video player on the web or on almost any mobile device. However, delivering and capturing a live stream is only the first step. With Episodic Live Analytics, you can measure your live audience in realtime and monetize your viewers with advertising inserted in the middle of a live stream or even credit card transactions for pay per view viewers.

Inserting Ads During A Live Event

With live ad insertion, you can add mid-roll advertisements on the fly just as you would with your on-demand programming. Ad placement for a live event may be pre-programmed or inserted manually from the Episodic live monitoring console. Rather than mixing the advertisement into your content stream, Episodic simply sends a command to the video player, which responds by making an ad call and playing the advertisement at the appropriate moment in your live stream.

Insert Ads From Live Console

With the live console you can monitor the live stream and apply a delay to the audience feed so your producers have time to insert ads or censor inappropriate content.

Because the advertisement is not actually mixed into the live content feed, ads may be served from remote ad servers and the ad creative may be localized to the viewer. For example, your fans in Brazil may see one advertisement during your live even while your fans in France see another.

Unlocking New Revenue

WIth live ad insertion you may simulcast your linear broadcast feeds online and sell advertising against fresh inventory. Although your linear feeds already have broadcast advertisements baked into the video stream, Episodic’s live ad insertion may be used to run a whole new set of campaigns against this same content when it is broadcast online.
Use the Episodic live console to remove your broadcast ads all together or replace them with your online ad campaigns and unlock a new revenue stream from the content you are already broadcasting.

Add Metadata For Dynamic Content

In addition to using the Episodic live console for inserting advertising into a live stream, producers may tag and label content as it appears during the live event and create a dynamic experience for the viewer. For instance, when monitoring a football game, a producer may add metadata to the live stream to indicate that a certain player has just scored a touch down.

Add Metadata to the Live Stream

Metadata sent in the live stream can be used to create a dynamic viewing experience where the video player reacts to the action in the frame.

That piece of metadata can then be sent to the Episodic player which could react by bringing up the instant highlight reels from the last five touch downs the football player scored. In this way, programmers can use the Episodic Live Console in tandem with the Episodic video player to create a dynamic live viewing experience where the player reacts to the action in the frame.
